Welcome to Alpaca Meadows. If you have a passion for fiber and the fiber arts, you’ve come to the right place. We are a small, family-run alpaca farm in the Midwest. We started with five suri alpacas in the Fall of 2002 and just a short time later, we have at least 50 on our farm give or take a few on any given day. What a journey it has been! Today we do alpacas full-time. To birth the cria and grow the alpaca that produces the wonderful fiber that luxurious products are made from, comes great satisfaction.
Alpaca Meadows offers garments, accessories, items for the home, and to-dye-for yarn made from the exquisite alpaca fleece. Warmer than wool, softer than cashmere, silkier than mohair, alpaca is one of Earth’s rarest natural fibers. We are committed to quality and are continuously updating and adding to our collection of alpaca products.
We raise both suri and huacaya, so when it comes to our to-dye-for yarn, we also have both. The fiber of each is soft and warm and light and durable. Suri fiber is known for its high luster - is in demand and consistently brings a premium price in the fiber market.
In addition to finished items, we have expanded into the world of fiber arts! We now carry the complete line of Louet spinning wheels, accessories, looms, and Gaywool dyes. We offer hand-spun and hand-painted yarn for the discriminating knitter, crocheter, and weaver. We offer raw fleece, natural and hand-dyed rovings for the spinner and felter.
Small alpaca farms are emerging all across the United States with breeders wondering what to do with the fiber. Let us help you count the ways! We now offer our own Alpaca Meadows “Fiber Arts Kits” for learning about drop-spindling, dyeing, felting, and more . . .
